ABOUT ABOUT

The CPDLab project (Continuing Professional Development Lab – http://cpdlab.eun.org) aims to improve the quality of ICT-related CPD available to teachers, school leaders and other school staff and help schools become effective learning environments by offering a portfolio of training courses directly related to the needs of teachers in the future classroom.

The project is supported by the Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme as a Comenius Multilateral Project, and it is running from October 2011 until September 2013. The project is coordinated by European Schoolnet.

The project is based on the issue that the member ministries of education in a number of European Schoolnet working groups, projects and initiatives have already identified some key competences that are not being adequately addressed by current CPD provision at either national or European level.

To this end, the CPDLab project will design, test and disseminate three, five-day CPD courses that support the following three areas:

  1. Innovative pedagogical use of Interactive Whiteboard technologies in secondary schools.
  2. Improved eSafety policies in secondary schools, addressing issues such as cyber bullying, use of social networks, responsible use of mobile and Internet technologies, etc.
  3. Implementation and dissemination of teaching and learning activities for the future classroom.

All three courses will be delivered in the Future Classroom Lab (http://fcl.eun.org), a Brussels-based “living lab” dedicated to showcase new ways of teaching and learning. Teachers, heads of school, ICT advisers and other relevant stakeholders from across Europe will be able to apply for funding under the European Commission’s Comenius programme in order to attend these new training opportunities.
